Swatching, swiping and slathering on samples in
this Covid-19 times
Covid-19 really affected all aspects of our daily lives. The things that we are
so used in doing before pandemic, can't be done in this time. Also, we really put
our greatest effort to adjust for us to survive. These hardships started last 2019, and
still prevalent up to this time. Many people lost their jobs, business, home, and
worst of all, some lost their loved ones. This is really a trying time for all of us.
But do you even wonder how this pandemic affected the beauty industry? It
drastically go down in just a span of months. The businesses in this industry lost so
many sales and the opportunity to be known and be big since beauty and
cosmetics aren't really relevant in this covid-19 times.
Since we are already past a year battling this covid-19, the trend of new
infections has been stabilized. The recorded cases aren't growing as fast as it is
the first few months, that's why many states and nations became less strict when
it comes to lockdown restrictions, and the stores are now slowly re-opening. But
of course, changes are evident. They need to obey safety protocols to ensure
their products are all ready and safe to use.
So how will they promote their products and encourage their potential
customers to buy their cosmetics if swatching, swiping, slathering on samples is
prohibited? The traditional way of product sampling is strictly denied since
swatching is always on the lips or near the eyes thus the transmission of the virus is
through those ways and through droplets.
The beauty and cosmetic industry will definitely have to use a bigger capital
for the product sampling since they will be conducting "no- touch testing", single-
use sampling and the alternatives like producing a sample sized products for the
consumers to try in their own home by delivering it to them.
Changing the traditional ways of product sampling will cost more but if it's for
the safety of their employees and consumers, the businesses are willing to do it.
