SELLING COSMETICS: PHYSICAL STORE/STALL VS. ONLINE


     Brands of cosmetics have their own way or strategy on how they will promote their products and how they will introduce it to the market.

Physical stores and online stores both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Here are some of them:


Advantages:

Physical store

  • First and the most important one is possible customers want to see, test, and try products personally before buying it and it is only possible if you have a physical store.
  • Especially when your products are make-ups, they want to do swatches first for them to know the consistency, pigment, and such.
  • Even though online stores can provide sample-sized products, nothing can beat free trial products or what we call the testers.
  • Also, if you are not satisfied with the products you bought or you chose the wrong one, it will be less hassle to come back to the store rather than communicating it on the online store because not all the times they are free to accommodate returned products. 
  • Loyalty of the customers

      You can gain loyalty from your customers when you own a physical store because of the reason that they can see through you.

They won't think that you are a scam because you were there physically. 


Online store

  • You own and manage your time

     Having an online store is really great. You can operate 24/7 in your own convenience. 

  • Can promote products easily

    For you to promote products, you will just have to do more posting and sharing since social media sites are used by so many, there will be a big possibility or chance that many people will be able to see your products.



Disadvantages

Physical store

  • Your possible customers are limited only to those people who walk through your door or in front of your store. 
  • Your promotion will cost more since you will have to have flyers, banners, and such. 
  • You can only operate at least 6 to 8 hours. 
  • You will have to invest in your place and employees. 

Online store

  • It is a little difficult to gain trust from customers because they won't know if you're a scam or not or if the products that they paid first will reach them. 
  • It is really not effective for customers who want to see the product personally. 

Despite having advantages and disadvantages, both are good and helpful to have.
