How to Apply Lipstick

Lipstick is an important part on our makeup routine. This one step can make big difference with your look so make sure to do it right. Here are seven steps to make your lipstick more flawlessly done.

1. Apply a thin layer of lip balm to moisturize and even out your lips.
Lip balms are essential since it moisturizes your lips and prevents it from drying out and getting flaky. It can smoothen out your lips by filling uneven spots. To apply your lip balm, swipe it over your upper lip from your Cupid's bow all the way to the corner of your lips. Then, on the bottom lip, apply it from the center and onto the corners.

2. Trace your lips with a lip pencil to prevent bleeding if you like.
It's not necessary to line your lips, you just need to enhance the features or the shape of your lips. To properly apply a lip pencil or liner, position the tip on top or your Cupid's bow and slowly trace it to the corner. After that, move on to your bottom lip and apply it from the center to the outer corners.

3. Smile so your application will be even.
A great trick is to apply your lip liner while smiling to prevent it from being uneven when it stretches out while you talk. Smile and apply it to make it even.

4. Start applying lipstick in the center of your lips.
For an easier application, apply your lipstick directly from the tube. To start, position your lipstick at the top of your Cupid's bow. Carefully put your lipstick on to make it look flawless.

5. Drag the lipstick from the center to the corner of your mouth.
Swipe your lipstick from the center to both of the sides. To do this, you have to position your lipstick on your Cupid's bow and drag it to one side. Repeat the same step to the other side. It's the same with the lower lip, go from the center and spread it out to the corners.

6. Use your finger to fill in patchy areas with a second layer.
To check your lips to see if there's uneven spots, swipe a clean finger over the tip of your lipstick then apply it carefully onto your lips.

7. Blot the inside of your lips with a tissue to remove excess.
Lipstick can sometimes get into your teeth, so you must remember to blot the inside of your lips to remove the excess makeup. Fold a clean tissue in half then hold it in between your lips. Press your lips and then release.
